How to maintain metal shaft

Nov 09, 2024

The maintenance of metal bearings mainly includes the following aspects:

‌Cleaning‌: Metal bearings are prone to accumulate dust and impurities during operation, so they need to be cleaned regularly. When cleaning, use a clean cloth or paper towel to wipe the bearing surface, and avoid using chemical solvents to avoid damaging the coating on the bearing surface‌.

‌Lubrication‌: Metal bearings need to be regularly lubricated to reduce friction and wear. Select appropriate lubricants and add them according to the requirements of the equipment manual. Be careful not to overdo it to avoid lubricant overflow‌.

‌Inspection‌: Regularly check the tightness of metal bearings to ensure that the bearings are firmly connected to the equipment. At the same time, check whether there are scratches, rust and other phenomena on the bearing surface. If there are any abnormalities, they should be handled in time‌.

‌Replacement‌: After long-term use, metal bearings should be replaced in time if they are severely worn, deformed, etc. When replacing, choose a bearing model that meets the equipment requirements to ensure the normal operation of the equipment‌.

‌Lubrication management‌:

‌Lubricant selection‌: Select a suitable lubricant, such as lubricating oil or grease, based on factors such as bearing type, working environment and operating speed. The amount of grease generally filled is about 1/3~1/2 of the internal space of the bearing. For oil lubrication, the oil level must be within the appropriate range and the oil can circulate smoothly to all parts of the bearing that need lubrication.

‌Regularly replace lubricants: Lubricants will gradually deteriorate or lose their lubricating properties during use. Regularly replacing lubricants can ensure that the bearings are always in a good lubricated state. The replacement cycle depends on the operation of the equipment. Generally, you can refer to the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer, or judge whether the lubricant needs to be replaced based on the color and texture changes of the lubricant.

‌Other maintenance suggestions:

‌Train operators: Provide professional training for equipment operators to ensure that they understand the correct use and maintenance requirements of bearings and reduce bearing damage caused by misoperation.

‌Establish a maintenance system: Develop a bearing maintenance plan, clarify the maintenance cycle, maintenance content and maintenance responsible person, and ensure that the bearings are maintained in a timely and effective manner through institutionalized management.

Storage environment: When the equipment is idle, the bearings should be stored in a dry, ventilated, dust-free environment to avoid adverse factors such as direct sunlight, high temperature and humidity.
