SUS316 stainless steel shaft refers to shaft parts made of SUS316 stainless steel. SUS316 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel. Compared with the common SUS304 stainless steel, it adds molybdenum (about 2%) to its composition, which makes it more corrosion-resistant.

Chromium (Cr): 16%-18%

Nickel (Ni): 10%-14%

Molybdenum (Mo): 2%-3%

Manufacturing Process

 

1. Material Selection:
High-grade SUS316 stainless steel bars or forgings are selected according to customer specifications.

 

2. Rough Machining:
Turning, milling, or grinding is performed to achieve the approximate shape and dimensions.

 

3. Heat Treatment (Optional):
Solution annealing is carried out to relieve internal stresses and enhance corrosion resistance.

 

4. Precision Machining:
CNC machining, centerless grinding, and polishing are used to achieve high precision and superior surface finish.

 

5. Surface Treatment:
Techniques such as mirror polishing, passivation, or electropolishing are applied to improve both corrosion resistance and aesthetics.

 

6. Quality Inspection:
Dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and corrosion resistance are tested to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Corrosion Resistance
SUS316 stainless steel shaft contains 16%~18% chromium and 2-3% molybdenum. Chromium can form a dense oxide film on the steel surface to prevent the internal steel from being corroded; molybdenum can enhance the stability of the oxide film, making it more difficult for corrosive substances to penetrate, which makes the shaft used as the pump shaft of seawater pumps or the stirring shaft of chemical conveying equipment.

 

High Strength
The tensile strength of SUS316 stainless steel shaft is 485MPa and the yield strength is 170MPa. High strength means that the material can withstand greater external forces without permanent deformation or fracture, and is suitable for use as a shaft and transmission shaft that transmits larger torque.

 

High Surface Finish
After precision turning, grinding and polishing, the surface finish of SUS316 stainless steel shaft can reach Ra≤0.4μm, which can effectively prevent liquid or powder from remaining on the surface. It is suitable for equipment with strict hygiene requirements such as dairy product filling machines and liquid medicine delivery pumps.
