Process flow and key technologies of CNC machining of shaft parts.
Shaft parts are usually rotating bodies with a length greater than the diameter, requiring high-precision dimensions and surface quality. CNC machining of shaft parts mainly uses turning technology, supplemented by milling, grinding, and EDM technologies to meet different material and precision requirements.

Design and programming
Before machining, the material (such as steel, aluminum, titanium alloy, etc.), size and tolerance must be determined according to the application requirements of the shaft, and the 3D model must be designed using CAD software. Then use CAM software to generate tool paths, write CNC programs (G codes), and guide machine tool processing.
Machine tool preparation and fixture fixation
Select a suitable machine tool (lathe, milling machine, etc.) and prepare the corresponding cutting tools. The workpiece must be firmly clamped to ensure that no offset occurs during the machining process and to ensure machining accuracy.
Processing route
Rough turning: remove most of the excess and quickly form the basic shape of the shaft.
Semi-finishing turning: get closer to the size and reduce the amount of subsequent processing.
Finishing turning: meet the dimensional tolerance and surface roughness requirements.
Grinding: surface finishing of hardened materials or shafts with high precision requirements to improve surface quality and dimensional stability.
Other processing technologies
Milling: process complex features such as splines and keyways on the shaft.
Drilling: process holes on the shaft for assembly of gears and other components.
Electrospark machining (EDM): manufacture complex and small structures to improve the functionality of the shaft.
